Celebrating Britton Images Beloved Mascot “Bear”
BEAR

Bear November 2011
Saturday March 3rd was the very worst day of my life! My beloved & adored little boy left me to cross over ‘The Rainbow Bridge.” Bear was my companion, studio greeter and bff. There will never be another Bear. He came into my life about 12 years ago as a stray. When no one claimed him I adopted him, never once regretting my decision since he brought more joy to my life than I can even put into words. “Me & Bear” became inseparable….he came to the studio every day for the last seven years and was my official greeter. Everyone loved Bear because he was always smiling, happy and ready to plop down for a belly rub. I mean this dog just loved belly rubs, how could anyone with half a heart not be melted by his awesome personality.
He also had a humongous, brave heart that never stopped giving! For the last year I knew something was not quite right but all the tests in the world could not discover anything to worry about. For many years he was treated for hypo-thyroid while battling an enlarged heart for the last 2 years, but he never complained, barking happily and squealing like a little piggie when it was time to go for a walk. Oh how I miss the barking & squeals now!! Just when I decided to take him to a specialist in the US about a month ago it was suggested he once again be given a chest x-ray. That’s when I was given the news that he had contracted lung cancer which had metastasized from another area of his little body.
For a month he battled that awful disease just to stay with me. Twice he lost his ability to walk and eat but I nursed him 24 hours a day to see him come back the first time for about two weeks then once again for a week after taking him & not being able to go through with it. This last time was a little different though, he seemed really tired like his will and spirit were slowly dying so I needed to finally make the decision that I dreaded so much. I wanted him to live forever, my faithful little buddy. What will I do without him, I couldn’t even imagine. Dr. Deluca and staff at Waker Rd. Animal Hospital were so kind, gentile & thoughtful. I sat right beside him, gazing into his eyes as his head lay on my arm. He passed ever so gently, my little baby Bear. I swear a little piece of my heart went with him that Saturday night and I will miss him more than I can even begin to say. Bear, will always be my bff!! I consider myself to be the luckiest person in the world to have been blessed with such a wonderful friend.

My friend James Zedd took this shot the afternoon Bear passed

Pet Portrait 2012
Look at this real cutie by the name of Henry. Being a beagle he was very curious about what was going on. He came along with his family for a “family portrait” but I really loved this shot. He was so much fun to capture!! The family portrait will be added at a later date.
Beautiful Bahamas Getaway ~ Photography by Britton Images
Sun, Sand & Lots of Fun
January Weekend Getaway
I had such a great time doing a weekend getaway with five girlfriends last weekend flying by my favourite airline West Jet!!. Six Bahama Mammas enjoying the beautiful weather, checking out the beauty of Grand Bahama Island, indulging in the food & activities at the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Resort where the staff was phenomenal. Our favourite drink was by far the Hurricane. I guess we missed the much talked about Wednesday Fish Fries which we’ll have to go back for one day.
Being a wedding photographer I thought the island would be perfect for a destination wedding which seems to be so popular today. Seems like I can’t help thinking about my work even when I’m away.
And even thought the time just flew by we had a great time & much deserved vacation. We also got to miss the weekend snowstorm here coming back just in time for the mild weather again…lucky us. 😀

BRIDE: Amy

HOW THEY MET: Blind Date
WEDDING STYLE: Traditional Jewish Ceremony complimented with a contemporary “First Look”
“His mouth is full of sweetness. And he is wholly desirable
This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem” (Songs 5:16)
“I am my beloved’s, and his desire is for me” (Songs 7:10)
Wedding Photography is so fulfilling to shoot because I get to share the most important day in a couple’s life & history. Each couple presents a different personality toward their event but all couples shine radiantly in their love for one another. With Amy & Ian there was a sweetness to their relationship where Ian genuinely took the role of protector to his beloved Amy.
My first thought when I saw Amy on her wedding day was how she reflected the classic & sophisticated style of thedress & shoes she chose to celebrate her day. The strapless pin pleated gown with a simple sash at the waist & a few daisy flowerettes scattered around the lower part of the skirt was stunning on her. And Ian didn’t miss a beat when it came to his stylish suit. Everything about the wedding was simple & elegant & they both beamed from ear to ear…so happy in love!!
These two were so much fun, so animated in their celebration…they really whooped it up!!! St. Clair Center for the Arts put on a great spread as you can see from the photos & everyone danced the night away. Amy & Ian, you guys really rock….I loved documenting your day & wish you many years of happiness & good fortune.

Oh How Happy We Will Be ……………………..When We Book Our Photographer!!!!

Taloola's Tea for Two to all You Lovebirds
Wedding Shows in Windsor will be underway in a few days with brides & grooms being overwhelmed with wedding vendors looking for their business. It’s a place to go to get lots of ideas but not the best to meet the photographer you may be considering. Many brides have told me from previous years just how overwhelming it can be. Since I get so many referrals from previous weddings & calls from my online photo journal I would rather have some quality time meeting with the couples one on one in my comfy studio where we have a chance to better connect.
Whatever the bride & groom are dreaming of & expecting I will make it happen…full day – half day, album – no album, one photographer – or two, journalistic – traditional – conceptual – cultural & yes even fusion video is available. The finished product will be the result of my storytelling expertise!
Consultations are complimentary! So let’s meet. Just this last week alone I booked three weddings so I’m filling up fast…..already into 2013. So don’t wait – call the studio at 519.256.1977 for an appointment.
Looking Forward to Meeting All you Lovebirds 😉
Welcome 2012 ~ Happy New Year Everyone ~ Health, Prosperity & Happiness ~ the Best is Yet to Come!!
Having a career as a professional photographer is a dream come true for me & a blessing I am always grateful for. What better life can anyone experience than to do what you love to do!! How lucky am I? So another year has arrived & I’m so excited with all that is waiting for me to document from behind my lens. New people to meet…little kids with their newly forming personalities, brides & grooms joyously in love & excited in their future, beaming moms & dads so full of pride in their kids, professionals wishing to market their business whatever it may be, beautiful young women looking to make a future in the modelling profession, small business owners needing promotional visuals of their products/services …sometimes even the little surprises like meeting family pets (one of my favourites). There’s always something interesting going on in my day to day activities.
Enough about me now & back to sending you lots of New Years wishes for 2012. May this coming year bring all your dreams to fruition, all the love you need & all the prosperity you work hard for. A special wish is to all the new parents-to-be & newly engaged couples whose love is reflected in all the joy they are experiencing….Love really does make the world go round!
Thanks to all who visit my photo blog! Please visit often….I love your feedback!!

2011
I have had the pleasure of meeting people from all walks of life & cultures. Everyone celebrates in their own way but the message of peace, love & joy remains a constant. I personally celebrate Christmas but there’s Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Diwali & others that I’m not familiar with. So here are a few of the ones that I am familiar with through the people I have met in my business.

Over $600 Raised at Alyvia’s Fundraiser

Here I am holding little Alyvia with Ashley &Ryan
to all who attended the fundraiser for Alyvia Hope at Britton Images Photography Studio
Last Saturday Santa Claus came to our studio to pose with children to raise funds for little cutie Alyvia Hope. Along with all the parents & kids who attended on her behalf Alyvia & her parents were also present. It was such a happy occasion!! And people were so generous….not only were people bringing their kids in for portraits but some were popping in just to donate a few dollars to Alyvia’s cause. Over $600 was raised that day which will be deposited into a trust account for her to be used when necessary. Others are bringing in donations when they pick up their orders. Many thanks to all who came for a portrait & to Santa & Mrs. Claus for their time, Vito’s Pizza in Olde Walkerville for a donation of a $25 gift card to help raise funds. Then there was beautiful mother-to-be Rachel Labbé who decorated the tree to prepare for Santa’s visit, Shannon Gilbert from Flowers by Design in Olde Walkerville who lent us a stunning wreath for a background to Old St. Nick & to CTV for help getting the word out. Pictures of all the kids & Alyvia will be posted tomorrow. . And all this came together in 2 days…I wasn’t even going to put up a tree this year. I am still overwhelmed with the generosity of everyone especially right before Christmas.

For anyone who has been moved by the story of this little girl & would like to contribute to the fund you can visit any RBC Bank & make a donation there. Just say it is a tragedy trust fund for Alyvia Hope in the name of her mother Ashley Taylor. As Tiny Tim said “God Bless Us Everyone“

Mrs. Claus came with Santa for Alyvia’s fundraiser at Britton Images Photography Studio in Olde Walkerville. Lots of boys & girls had their photo taken with the donations going to help fund the needed operation to remove the benign growth from her now. Below is a shot of little Alyvia with Mrs. Claus.

Fundraiser for Little Alyvia ~ Portrait with Santa
all her parents want for Christmas is for her to be able to breathe normally!!
I watched a heart wrenching story on CTV News last night about a little 5 month old Chatham girl named Alyvia who finds it increasingly harder to breathe because of a golf sized benign growth on her nose. She needs an operation before the New Year so $15000 needs to be raised on her behalf. I would like to invite parents to bring in their kids for a portrait with Santa. All proceeds will go to this family. And because my studio is in Olde Walkerville you can wander the stores in the area, do some Christmas shopping or catch a bite to eat at any one of the cafes & restaurants.

ESSEX COUPLE READY FOR THE HUNT
Cathy & Chuck
2011
Cathy called the studio one day to ask if I could go out to their property in Essex to take some lifestyle shots of them participating in their hobby of hunting with bow & arrow. I was quite surprised when I saw their equipment as I was expecting an old fashioned bow & arrow. Instead the weapon was huge & very high-tech, as you will see in the shot below. We wandered around their property as they talked about their hunting hobby & how much they enjoyed going out as a couple. The shot below was one of their favourite ones. It was an interesting day & a pleasure to get to meet these two experienced hunters.
Windsor Children’s Photography ~ Location Shoot in Olde Walkerville
Cara, Tim & Family
2011
Since photographing Cara & Tim’s wedding a few years back they have moved to Toronto & had two beautiful kids. Just recently, while visiting family in Windsor, they made an appointment to have a location “family lifestyle” shoot. It’s so heartwarming to have people who truly value the work you do to remain ongoing clients even when they move away! Cara & Tim are one of the couples who wedding shots appear on the brick facade at the front of my studio. They definitely show how much fun they had on their day. And below their daughter enjoys some fall flowers in an Olde Walkerville area garden.

Engaged & Will Marry in December 2011
“Love consists in this, that two solitudes protect & greet each other.”
RAINER MARIA RILKE
One of the best things about my photography career is meeting so many great new people. Amy & Ian, who are getting married in December wanted to spend some time with me first before the big day to feel comfortable. Well, as soon as I met these two I felt a strong connection so it wasn’t a surprise that I had an absolutely fantastic time. They were so happy – laughing & playing around…so much in love!! We walked casually around the Olde Walkerville area. The spectacular Fall colours of the leaves, old paint-chipped fences & the river backdrop all gave me lots of opportunity to take an abundance of photos. They loved them all ~ that’s the best part – making my couples smile 😀 I’m so excited to document their upcoming W day! Check back for more of this shoot to be posted on the blog.

I so loved this children’s photo of Ruby…..she looks like a professional on a model shoot! Children are so much fun to photograph 😀 I just couldn’t stop laughing though when I got this one, as will the lucky recipients of this card. She’s just so cute!! I wonder what she’ll do when she gets a year older – will she be funny like this or will she get a little shy? Only time will tell.

I love this photo of Danielle, Richard, Miranda & Joelle! A perfect ‘Lifestyle’ family photo where the whole family is interacting. This family was a ton of fun to work with & I captured lots of urban looking shots while we wandered around this neighbourhood. All of them had a great time! This is the shot they chose for their Christmas card.

1 measure commitment
1 measure friendship
3/4 measure understanding
2/3 measure patience
1 dash of laughter
1 teaspoon romance
Blend well together, pour out a generous glassful, and serve stirred,

The wedding of Marguerite & Jesse was so much fun! I remember how she giggled a lot & how beautiful she looked with her long dark hair flowing down over her shoulders. She and her handsome husband were perfect together savoring all the joy & good-natured fun throughout the day. And even though wild & crazy winds visited Windsor that day they both took it in stride deciding to take a chance anyway to head to the Peace Fountain for some playful picture taking. Marguerite had to hold on tight to her veil but we managed to squeeze a few in before the wind had a chance to sweep us away.
Marguerite planned her day all herself & did a fantastic job, loving every minute. She chose a stunning strapless gown from Bridal Couture with a beautiful back reveal, a panel insert train with stunning embellishments that perfectly dressed up the loosely tiered front. Finishing off her look was a really feminine pair of ivory heels, an ivory bouquet, a finely embellished veil, a band bracelet, chandelier earrings & a delicate necklace just to add a little bling in the right spots.
Again I had the pleasure of feeling like family at this wedding & consider Marguerite as another friend I met while doing what I love to do. Congrats to you both Marguerite & Jesse. I have dedicated a poem to you both as I’m starting to do for all my couples. Enjoy!!

Karen & Aaron first met in grade school, lost touch when Karen moved away. Serendipity brought them together once more many years down the road when they began working for the same company. Aaron eventually moved to Toronto where he & Karen bought their first home. Could it be their union was in the stars? Somethings just fall into place don’t they.
Their wedding brought lots of friends & family from Windsor to share in their day. This couple is so much fun & so easy going!! They really are such a perfect match. I loved shooting this wedding because, of course, I love to travel & Toronto is my hometown but more importantly, Karen & Aaron have become friends since they first came to my studio last year.
Karen looked so beautiful & radiant alongside her handsome husband. And they thoroughly enjoyed every minute of their celebration as per all their beaming smiles. Congratulations to you both!! I am so honoured you chose me not only as your photographer but also as a friend.

VAL & GOCE CELEBRATE TRADITIONAL WEDDING
Val made a stunning bride on May 22 when she married her school sweetheart George in a traditional ceremony surrounded by friends & family. Even though the wedding party was huge (23) everyone had fun & the day went perfectly. There’s always lots to capture in these celebrations with dancing, singing & lots of food. We spent some time at the Art Gallery & later attended the reception at The Macedonian Center. Congratulations to you both Val & George. Thank you for choosing me to document your beautiful day!!
NATHALIE & CHAD ARE MARRIED!
July 2 was the big wedding day celebration for Nathalie & Chad. These two are dog lovers just like me so we clicked right away. We started the day at their house, moving over to St. John Vianney, then to the Art Gallery & finally to the Ambassador Golf Club for the reception. What a happy couple!!! with a large number of family & friends coming from Europe to share their day. Congratulations on your very special day! May you share many years together of love, happiness & good fortune.

JENNIFER DARMON & MIKE BELAWETZ’s WEDDING DAY TEASER VIDEO
April 16th finally arrived for a determined Jennifer Darmon to walk down the aisle to her awaiting finance, Mike Belawetz. When the ceremony ended Mike whisked her off the floor to the joyful applause of everyone there.
Their first dance was just as touching!

Words hardly come close to explaining the emotions of the day! As you can see, Jenn is just beaming from ear to ear. And what makes this event even more memorable is the fact that Jenn worked extremely hard, for quite some time now, to take those time honored steps down the aisle.
It was a privilege and honor to be chosen to document their day, as it is with all my couples.
Please enjoy their story.
Special thanks to Brian Stephens of Green Gecko Photography www.greengeckophotography.com as well as Jaymz van Hees of Jaymz Fotografie www.jaymz.ca for helping me to capture their eventful day. It wouldn’t have been the same with out you!
here’s a quote I found and wanted to share, ~ how fitting
Whatever setbacks you encounter, don’t give up on your hopes and dreams.
Imagination is stronger than knowledge…. dreams are more powerful than facts, and hope can triumph over experience.
WEDDING TIP: THE VIDEOGRAPHY CONTRACT
Most video companies will send either a representative or camera crew to your ceremony site during the rehearsal to check out placement and entrances. They’ll then be able to determine the best equipment setup and how many cameras are needed. Remember, though, that this is a wedding ceremony, not a movie set; question suggestions of more than two to three cameras.
Generally you need at least two cameras for the ceremony — one in front and one in back. The second camera also can serve as backup to a failed camera.
Provide your videographer with a copy of any restrictions your clergy may have. You may even want to schedule a meeting during which you all can discuss the rules and any exceptions that may need to be made. Consider another venue if yours has too rigid limitations and find a different videographer if you sense tenseness or hostility.
Avoid conflicts all around with a specific written contract. Make sure you and your videographer agree in writing about what his duties are and what you’re expecting for your final tape.
The contract should cover all these issues related to the job:
- Schedule of coverage
- Depth of coverage
- Features of the finished product
- Payments and contingencies
- Recourses
The contract might also cover who the actual cameramen will be. There’s no such thing as a standard contract, and verbal agreements aren’t binding. Put everything down on paper so you won’t have any surprises on your wedding day or afterwards.
WEDDING TIP: INTERVIEWING VIDEOGRAPHERS
Hiring a professional videographer to videotape your wedding ensures you’ll end up with a high-quality, well-organized recording. Before you decide on whom to hire, outline what you want as the end result and understand what it’ll take to get there.
What you ask a prospective videographer should not only determine that he offers the services you’re looking for, but also that he’s willing and eager to expertly record your wedding onto tape. When interviewing, don’t be afraid to ask for an interpretation of any answer you don’t understand. Let the answers to the following questions shape your list of potential hires:
- Are you available for our wedding date and time?
- Can we see a demo tape (of an actual wedding – not a stylized, produced demo tape)?
- Can you attend the rehearsal?
- How much control do we have in the editing process? Do you also provide an unedited version?
- Can we add our own music or thoughts to the taping?
- How long will the final tape be?
- Will you supply more than one copy of the final tape?
- Will you preview the site beforehand?
- What kind of setup do you need?
- When should we reserve your services?
- What packages do you offer?
- What prices do you charge? Do you require a deposit? How much is it and when is it due?
- When will the balance be due?
- Do you edit digitally so we can get a DVD? If not, will you in the near future?
