Hava Nagila ~ Celebrating a Jewish Wedding for Amy & Ian ~ by Windsor Photographer Amy Britton of Britton Images
amy & ian
December 11, 2011
HOW THEY MET: Blind Date
WEDDING STYLE: Traditional Jewish Ceremony complimented with a contemporary “First Look”
“His mouth is full of sweetness. And he is wholly desirable
This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem” (Songs 5:16)
“I am my beloved’s, and his desire is for me” (Songs 7:10)
Wedding Photography is so fulfilling to shoot because I get to share the most important day in a couple’s life & history. Each couple presents a different personality toward their event but all couples shine radiantly in their love for one another. With Amy & Ian there was a sweetness to their relationship where Ian genuinely took the role of protector to his beloved Amy.
My first thought when I saw Amy on her wedding day was how she reflected the classic & sophisticated style of thedress & shoes she chose to celebrate her day. The strapless pin pleated gown with a simple sash at the waist & a few daisy flowerettes scattered around the lower part of the skirt was stunning on her. And Ian didn’t miss a beat when it came to his stylish suit. Everything about the wedding was simple & elegant & they both beamed from ear to ear…so happy in love!!
These two were so much fun, so animated in their celebration…they really whooped it up!!! St. Clair Center for the Arts put on a great spread as you can see from the photos & everyone danced the night away. Amy & Ian, you guys really rock….I loved documenting your day & wish you many years of happiness & good fortune.

Oh How Happy We Will Be ……………………..When We Book Our Photographer!!!!
Wedding Shows in Windsor will be underway in a few days with brides & grooms being overwhelmed with wedding vendors looking for their business. It’s a place to go to get lots of ideas but not the best to meet the photographer you may be considering. Many brides have told me from previous years just how overwhelming it can be. Since I get so many referrals from previous weddings & calls from my online photo journal I would rather have some quality time meeting with the couples one on one in my comfy studio where we have a chance to better connect.
Whatever the bride & groom are dreaming of & expecting I will make it happen…full day – half day, album – no album, one photographer – or two, journalistic – traditional – conceptual – cultural & yes even fusion video is available. The finished product will be the result of my storytelling expertise!
Consultations are complimentary! So let’s meet. Just this last week alone I booked three weddings so I’m filling up fast…..already into 2013. So don’t wait – call the studio at 519.256.1977 for an appointment.
Looking Forward to Meeting All you Lovebirds 😉

BRIDE: Marguerite, 30, Correctional Officer
GROOM: Jesse, 30, Slot Tech, Casino Windsor
HOW THEY MET: Schoolmates
HOW LONG ENGAGED: 1 year
THEIR WEDDING STYLE: Modern with a hint of Tradition
Mixology can seem a hard art to master, but with dedication everyone
can become a msestro of love’s heartwarming cocktail. Take:
2 measures trust
1 measure commitment
1 measure friendship
3/4 measure understanding
2/3 measure patience
1 dash of laughter
1 teaspoon romance
Blend well together, pour out a generous glassful, and serve stirred,
not shaken. Sprinkle with kisses, and top with a slice
of passion fruit!
The wedding of Marguerite & Jesse was so much fun! I remember how she giggled a lot & how beautiful she looked with her long dark hair flowing down over her shoulders. She and her handsome husband were perfect together savoring all the joy & good-natured fun throughout the day. And even though wild & crazy winds visited Windsor that day they both took it in stride deciding to take a chance anyway to head to the Peace Fountain for some playful picture taking. Marguerite had to hold on tight to her veil but we managed to squeeze a few in before the wind had a chance to sweep us away.
Marguerite planned her day all herself & did a fantastic job, loving every minute. She chose a stunning strapless gown from Bridal Couture with a beautiful back reveal, a panel insert train with stunning embellishments that perfectly dressed up the loosely tiered front. Finishing off her look was a really feminine pair of ivory heels, an ivory bouquet, a finely embellished veil, a band bracelet, chandelier earrings & a delicate necklace just to add a little bling in the right spots.
Again I had the pleasure of feeling like family at this wedding & consider Marguerite as another friend I met while doing what I love to do. Congrats to you both Marguerite & Jesse. I have dedicated a poem to you both as I’m starting to do for all my couples. Enjoy!!

A Sunday wedding was the choice for Kim & Rami’s fun-filled day with my favourte….middle eastern food, served at the elegant Windsor Club. Kim wore a light flowing gown with her dark hair tied softly in the back. She looked like a Greek goddess! Friends & family enjoyed a laid back evening with great food & live entertainment. It was a pleasure documenting their wedding. Congratulations to you both!
Natalie’s hometown of Leamington was the setting for her wedding to football coach Jamie on Friday, August 26th. Following the church ceremony the whole wedding party headed over to Natalie’s uncle’s house to take a few pictures. The scenery was absolutely beautiful with landscaping & view of the water to die for. These two were so much fun!!! At the Ciociaro Club they participated in “Jumping the Broom” a custom brought down from Jamie’s side of the family. Congratulations Nicole & Jamie! I was just thrilled to be a part of your wedding day.
Val made a stunning bride on May 22 when she married her school sweetheart George in a traditional ceremony surrounded by friends & family. Even though the wedding party was huge (23) everyone had fun & the day went perfectly. There’s always lots to capture in these celebrations with dancing, singing & lots of food. We spent some time at the Art Gallery & later attended the reception at The Macedonian Center. Congratulations to you both Val & George. Thank you for choosing me to document your beautiful day!!
July 2 was the big wedding day celebration for Nathalie & Chad. These two are dog lovers just like me so we clicked right away. We started the day at their house, moving over to St. John Vianney, then to the Art Gallery & finally to the Ambassador Golf Club for the reception. What a happy couple!!! with a large number of family & friends coming from Europe to share their day. Congratulations on your very special day! May you share many years together of love, happiness & good fortune.
What a wonderful couple & wonderful day for a white Windsor Wedding! We had so much fun, and really we couldn’t have asked for nicer weather. We first stopped at Reaume Park for wedding photos, we then headed over to Willistead Park to get even more great wedding images. Heather and Pierre assembled such a amazing wedding party! It really made the day that much more special. This is the forth wedding in the family I’ve shot and I was so looking forward to the fun day and crazy night, filled with great food at the Ciociaro Club, lots of laughs and good times, not to mention lots of “cake” dancing. Take a peak at the reception images below and you’ll see why I was looking forward to this fun filled day.
Heather, you looked absolutely stunning and Pierre, you looked pretty handsome yourself! Congrats to you both on a life filled with great times, many happy memories and lots of “cake”!! I’m honored to have been a part of your future together.
April 16th finally arrived for a determined Jennifer Darmon to walk down the aisle to her awaiting finance, Mike Belawetz. When the ceremony ended Mike whisked her off the floor to the joyful applause of everyone there.
Their first dance was just as touching!
Take a peak at their amazing memorable moments done by Brian of Green Gecko Photography: link below.
Words hardly come close to explaining the emotions of the day! As you can see, Jenn is just beaming from ear to ear. And what makes this event even more memorable is the fact that Jenn worked extremely hard, for quite some time now, to take those time honored steps down the aisle.
It was a privilege and honor to be chosen to document their day, as it is with all my couples.
Please enjoy their story.
Special thanks to Brian Stephens of Green Gecko Photography www.greengeckophotography.com as well as Jaymz van Hees of Jaymz Fotografie www.jaymz.ca for helping me to capture their eventful day. It wouldn’t have been the same with out you!
here’s a quote I found and wanted to share, ~ how fitting
Whatever setbacks you encounter, don’t give up on your hopes and dreams.
Imagination is stronger than knowledge…. dreams are more powerful than facts, and hope can triumph over experience.
April 16th finally arrived for a determined Jennifer Darmon to walk down the aisle to her awaiting finance, Mike Belawetz. Historical Mackenzie Hall in Olde Sandwich Town was packed with invited guests & media to watch this feisty woman overcome adversity & make her life-long dream of walking down the aisle on her wedding day come true. With twinkling eyes & a glowing smile she looked like an angel. The energy was electric as all eyes were on the beautiful bride. When the ceremony ended Mike whisked her off the floor to the joyful applause of everyone there. It was hard to keep a dry eye while witnessing this beautiful love story unfold knowing all they had both endured. May your marriage be blessed with much love, happiness & good fortune!!!!
Look for their story on Inside Edition today at 4:30 or check out their website.
Another post will follow with more photos of their day.
Jennifer Darmon was Person of the Week on Diane Sawyer’s ABC News, with their story appearing on several news sites including WXYZ with Carolyn Clifford, Inside Edition, CBS,The Morning Show & a video diary on you tube. Check them out.
Mike will get the unbelievable gift of watching the love of his life, Jennifer …..walk down the isle to his waiting arms to exchange vows & share their wedding day with friends & family. I am so thrilled & honoured to have been chosen to document their day. Jennifer is such a beautiful person & role mode!! With incredible strength of determination & will she has worked faithfully, against all odds to walk down the aisle & dance with her husband at their celebration. And kudoos to Mike for setting such a strong example of what the words “through sickness & in health ” really mean. Their touching story appeared in the Windsor Star, February 14 so for those who missed it you can click on the following link:
True & lasting love is still wonderfully alive!!!! Look forward to your special day!!!
I was so excited to document Geetha & Amit’s Indian wedding on November 26th in Toronto at the the Riviera Park in Concord. So many beautiful colours & the bride was stunning in pink & turquoise. Even though Geetha had sprained her ankle just a few days before she carried on like a trouper, knowing well she would pay for it the next day. I loved their affectionate glances …..& the ceremony was filled with custom & meaning. Congrats to you both! I am so thankful for the opportunity of being part of your day.
Sweethearts Christina & Steve were an absolute joy to shoot at Ojibway Nature Center on their October 16th wedding day. Their easy going style fit in perfectly with such natural surroundings. Even though the trees weren’t yet clothed with spectacular colour we managed to get some really cool shots. Steve often carried Christina’s bouquet around, which was really cute. And Christina was absolutely stunning!!! They exchanged their signature “fish-kiss” many times which kept me in stitches. There wasn’t too much this fun-loving couple wasn’t up to for a romantic shot. I especially loved the ‘Knight in Shining Armour’ one with Steve down on one knee…….gotta love it when a groom is so open!! Christina & Steve….thank you for allowing me to share & document your day!!….& those sweet treats a couple of days later were absolutely fantastic. Congratulations & much love to you both.

University sweethearts Jenna & Jeff shared many classes together & fell in love among the test tubes of the science lab so it was a given that we take some shots in that lab. These two are so cute together! And the rain didn’t dampen their spirits one bit…..kind of added a moody touch to to the outdoor shots. Anyway, it was so much fun sharing your day & the story goes that fortune awaits the wedding couple whose day is filled with rain. 😉 Lucky for you both!!

Natasha & Eli are absolutely so made for each other! They met & fell in love while studying law at the University of Windsor opting for a lucky celebration date of 10-10-10. You know by their fun-loving & quick – witted natures that their careers will thrive in their new home base of Ottawa. The day was a blast with shared Jewish & Slavic traditions including the breaking of a glass & the exciting wedding dance to Hava Nagila, where everyone joins hands & lifts the bride & groom high over the celebrants. Natasha looked beautiful, becoming teary-eyed when Eli presented her with a beautiful diamond “star of David pendant.” Sometimes it’s hard for me not to become emotional when I see the love reflected in their eyes, the tears shed & the beaming smiles. I am so honoured to have been a part of your wedding day. Congratulations Natasha & Eli ……. Masel Tov!!!

September 18 was the big wedding day for Tiffany & Paul. The nuptials began at St. Michael’s in Leamington. This fun couple were so natural & real together shrugging off the spitting rain upon arrival at Pointe Pelee National Park. And even though all the girls started running from the rain these two were more than happy to kiss their way through the shoot. I remember how they joked & laughed together … being so comfortable together. I love documenting each couple’s unique & personal love story. Weddings are such happy events!! Congratulations to you both Tiffany & Paul for a lifetime of cherished memories!

Dana & Bruno tied the knot in a small Christian ceremony at the Hilton Hotel on August 21. Bruno, originally from South Africa, met Dana when she was just 17. It was really sweet to witness & document such a wonderful fusion of cultures…especially when they changed into Bruno’s colourful native dress to dance the night away with friends & family who traveled from South Africa & other parts of the world to share in their joyous & special day.
I’m so lucky to have the privilege of meeting such great couples & documenting their wedding memories. And to think that one day they will be sharing these photos with their kids. I love my job!!!
Congrats to you both Dana & Bruno…may you experience a lifetime of the joy I witnessed in both your eyes on your wedding day.

What a gorgeous day August 7th turned out to be for Allana & Jason. We started the day at Allana’s family home in Essex, traveled to the Essex Railway Station then on to the west end of the Sculpture Gardens on the riverfront. The couple married under a beautiful old tree with friends & family surrounding them & their trusty pug acting as ring bearer. Allana, dressed in her bias cut slinky gown, reminded me of Hollywood glamour queen, Rita Hayworth. After the ceremony everyone headed out to the Art Gallery to share in a meal to celebrate their love & afterward, danced the night away. Another beautiful & perfect wedding for this very romantic & funloving couple. Congratulations to you both…..live, laugh & love always!! I had so much fun! Thank you for choosing Britton Images Photography.

Val & Steve tied the knot on July 24th during a beautiful ceremony at St. John the Baptiste in Amherstburg. It ended up to be one of the rainiest weekends so far. Severe storms were forecast for Saturday but the rain held out long enough to get through the ceremony, to the Art Gallery & eventually to the Ciociaro Club. And even though it was oppressively humid everyone was very cool inside the Art Gallery which was a perfect backdrop for Val & Steve’s wedding photos. I love shooting couples at the Art Gallery! Afterward, we all headed out to the Ciociaro Club where the hall was beautifully decorated in blue. Val & Steve showed off their natural talent as models, (I think you’ll agree). It was a beautiful wedding & I am so grateful that I got to document another wonderful couple. Thank you Val & Steve I’m so glad you chose me as your wedding photographer. I had a great time! Wishing you both many happy years together

What a perfect day for Nicole & Tyson!!! Here’s a couple who really enjoyed their day & showed off their personalities. Both of them love making faces & hamming it up for the camera, so it was fun & easy to shoot my way through the day. Their shoes were even embellished with their wedding date….a couple of real-life romantics, I’d say! This is the same couple who posed with their beautiful dobs for engagement photos awhile back with a crazy array of colourful grafitti as a backdrop for their unique personalities. Congratulations to you both Nicole & Tyson! I had a blast with your fun antics…loved the dinner (absolutely amazing) & am very grateful that you chose me for your wedding photographer. Thank you!!

Kristy & Alex wanted some photos that were different & away from the formal garden backdrops that are sometimes used for wedding photos, so we headed to an overgrown warehouse area. Red brick, abandoned buildings, unkempt property does make for an awesome background that certainly does stand out. The whole wedding party was co-operative & I had lots of fun, yet again! Another perfect day for a great couple!! Dinner was fantastic & I absolutely loved sharing your special day. I just love my job!! Congrats Kristy & Alex…..may you enjoy many, many years together in love! Your wedding photographer loves ya!

Like kids around a fire hydrant in the hot, humid weather these little feathered friends enjoyed a little sip & dip in our backyard birdbath. The bluejay just wanted a little drink while the fat, little robin was especially delighted in finding relief from the recent area heatwave. Lucky my camera just happened to be handy to capture these shots.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You have done so much for us both and we really can’t thank you enough! We hired you to photograph our wedding, but you have become a great friend! You really helped add fun to the “photo” part of the day – and I think it shows with all the beautiful shots you got. Thank you for sharing in our special day with us!

Thank you so much! You two are awesome!!!
Laura & Gianni were married the same week-end as the Windsor Funfest so we all headed downtown & toured around all the events that were happening at the time. Classic cars, Elvis Fest & of course the carnival made for a fun backdrop for wedding photos on their special day. Everyone in the weeding party was a hoot & remained good sports during our downtown tour. Congrats to you both Laura & Gianni. You’ll have so many fun memories to tickle your funny bone as the years pass. Thank you for choosing me to document those memories!!!
